Abstract

I corridoi umanitari rappresentano un lodevole strumento di pubblica mobilitazione della società civile, che ha permesso a numerose persone, bloccate nei Paesi di primo asilo, di raggiungere in modo legale e sicuro l’Unione europea per ottenere protezione internazionale ed essere accompagnati nel loro percorso di integrazione e inclusione nelle comunità di accoglienza. Tuttavia, la struttura stessa dei corridoi umanitari e il numero totale di beneficiari dei programmi rende l’istituto un atto caritatevole per pochi e non certo uno
strumento tecnico-politico idoneo per ritenere assolti i doveri delle istituzioni europee e degli Stati membri nel garantire in modo  effettivo il diritto di ogni richiedente asilo di raggiungere il territorio europeo per ottenere protezione internazionale.

Summary – Humanitarian Corridors: The Good in the Bad
The humanitarian corridors represent a laudable tool of public mobilization of civil society, which have helped many people, stranded in countries of first asylum, to reach the European Union legally and safely in order to obtain international protection and be accompanied on their path of integration and inclusion in host communities. Nevertheless, the very structure of humanitarian corridors and the total number of beneficiaries make these programmes a charitable act for a few and not a sufficient technical-political tool to consider the duties and responsibilities of the EU institutions and the Member states fulfilled in effectively guaranteeing the right of each asylum seeker to reach the territory of the Member States of the European Union and to obtain international protection.
