La questione del metodo teologico nella seconda metà del XX secolo

Abstract

L’opera di Bernard Lonergan si colloca nel processo di rinnovamento della teologia avviato già nei decenni precedenti al concilio Vaticano II. Il breve saggio intende descrivere in forma sintetica questo processo, che ha comportato le seguenti tappe: 1) la critica e il superamento del manuale neoscolastico, soprattutto del metodo regressivo da questo praticato; 2) le indicazioni del Vaticano II circa lo studio della sacra Scrittura come anima della teologia e circa il metodo genetico nella spiegazione della dogmatica; 3) la recezione «creativa» del Vaticano II nella duplice direzione del pluralismo teologico e del primato della prassi; 4) l’assunzione della prospettiva ermeneutica, che riconosce priorità al soggetto nel suo contesto culturale; 5) la ripresa della prospettiva che intende far valere la verità a fronte dell’interpretazione. Method in Theology cerca di indicare una via mediana tra le teologie contestuali e l’istanza veritativa.

Summary – The Question of Method in Theology in the Second Half of XX Century
The work of Bernard Lonergan is part of the process of renewal of theology already started in the decades preceding the Second Vatican Council. The short essay intends to briefly describe this process, which has involved the following stages: 1. The critique and the overcoming of the neo-scholastic textbook, above all of the regressive method practiced by it; 2. The indications of Vatican II about the study of Sacred Scripture as the soul of theology and the genetic method in explaining dogmatics; 3. The «creative» reception of
Vatican II in the dual direction of theological pluralism and the primacy of praxis; 4. The assumption of the hermeneutic perspective, which gives priority to the subject in its cultural context; 5. The resumption of the perspective that intends to assert the truth in the face of interpretation. Method in Theology seeks to indicate a median path between contextual theologies and the instance of truth.
