Tra escapologia ed escatologia. Il quotidiano alla luce della speranza cristiana

L’articolo tenta di riflettere attorno alla seguente domanda: come vivere e annunciare la grande speranza cristiana nella debole post-modernità? Nel contesto odierno, non avendo più occhi per guardare troppo lontano né sogni per il futuro che sembri plausibile realizzare, il quotidiano diviene l’unico orizzonte possibile. Tuttavia, proprio il quotidiano viene percepito sempre più come «pesante» e opprimente e si avverte la necessità di trovare tattiche per fuggire da esso. L’escatologia cristiana, fondata sull’attesa della parusia di Gesù, potrebbe (cor)rispondere a tale necessità, proponendo non una fuga, ma una relativizzazione del quotidiano, ovvero porlo in relazione all’assoluto della (che è la) parusia. In tal modo il peso potrà essere «alleggerito», pur valorizzando il tempo presente nel suo legame con l’eternità e senza scadere in un facile indifferentismo.

Summary - Between Escapology and Eschatology. Everyday Life in the Light of Christian Hope

This article seeks to reflect on the following question: how can we live and proclaim the great Christian hope in our «weak» post-modern world? In today’s context, having lost the ability to look too far ahead or to dream of a future that seems plausible to achieve, everyday life becomes the only possible horizon. However, our everyday life is increasingly perceived as «heavy» and oppressive, and one feels the need to find ways to escape it. Christian eschatology, founded on the expectation of the parousia of Jesus, could (cor)respond to this need, proposing not an escape, but a relativisation of the everyday life, that is, placing it in relation to the absolute of (which is the) parousia. In this way, the burden can be «lightened», whilst valuing the present moment in its connection with eternity and without falling into indifferentism.
